Solar Shading Feature Panel & Louvre Screening – Iconsys Factory, Telford

Vertical Feature Panel & Louvre Screening – Telford, Shropshire

The vertical shading panel on this project acted as a feature over reducing solar gain into the building. NLC’s Shading panels filled in a large empty space above the entrance to the factory / offices and instantly became one of the main focus points of the commercial unit. The large panels (approx 3 meters x 4 meters) were supplied in kit form and assembled / installed between the vertical steelwork columns on site. The Louvre Screen to the side of the building contained 5 No. single louvre doors, each giving access to certain maintenance areas on the plant behind. All items supplied by NLC were polyester powder coated RAL 7016 to match the rest of the building.

Rectangular Blade Timber Brise Soleil – Oxford

Timber Shading – Lifestyle Centre, Oxford

Another one of Nationwide Louvre Companies recent installations came in the form of a vertical Brise Soleil panel to the entrance of a new Lifestyle / Fitness Centre in Oxford. The panel is constructed from rectangular western red cedar vertical fins fixed to horizontal powder coated aluminium rails fixed back to the curtain walling system. All fixing details were kept to a minimum on this project so when viewed from the external face, no fixing points were visible for the supports or the blades themselves.  The horizontal box sections were supported directly off of the windows with the used of half hidden curtain walling brackets. The curtain walling brackets were installed prior to the capping so that all five fixings per bracket were hidden. The blades were then secured to the box section with folded angle brackets to the rear, again giving a very clean looking appearance when viewed from outside.

Brise Soleil – Coundon Court School, Coventry

Vertical Solar Shading / Brise Soleil

NLC recently completed the installation of the green vertical solar shading fins and the rectangular Western Red Cedar timber Brise Soleil. The green shading fins were supplied in two different depths to suit two different sections of the windows. The blades with shorter depth were used at the edge of the openings which meant the longer blades were fixed in a more central position on the windows. The western red cedar timber brise soleil panels were installed along the south elevation as those windows needed the highest reduction in solar gain. 10mm Thick fully welded aluminium brackets were used to support the vertical panels in front of the windows with a drop rod installed on the largest panel to prevent deflection of the centre of the timber blade.

Timber Effect Aluminium Brise Soleil – New Residential Properties, North London

Aluminium Shading Fins with Timber Effect Finish – London

The latest project to be completed by Nationwide Louvres is the supply, delivery and installation of Timber Effect Brise Soleil to a new residential development in North London. The shading panels were fabricated using rectangular box section support rails & 210mm elliptical blades. Prior to installation the blades were sent to a specialist powder coating company who applied a dark wood effect finish to the blades which gave the aesthetics of wood with the durability of aluminium. The blades stepped down in size to follow the line of the roof and covered one half of the large triangular windows that were the main feature to the living spaces of the new houses. The panels were installed as non-vision panels more so than Brise Soleil but they will still offer a certain of shading in the summer months to that section of window.

Horizontal Solar Shading – New Office Space, Cannock

Horizontal Solar Shading – New Office Space, Cannock

The images below show the latest work NLC have completed at a brand new office development in Cannock. This is the fourth installation on this project, directly beneath the original installation. NLC were asked to design the shading so that it would cover the entrance / doorway which meant it had to be fixed to the curtain walling system. Clear plastic sheets were bolted to the top of the two panels directly above the doors to prevent rainwater dropping from the panels onto visitors and staff as they enter the building. Stainless steel cantilever arms have been used for additional support.

Vertical Shading Fins – St Georges School, Gravesend

Vertical NLC-SOL300-E Aluminium Brise Soleil – St Georges School, Gravesend

Nationwide Louvres recently completed the third phase of Brise Soleil installation at St Georges School in Gravesend. The third phase of installation included two  complete sections of Brise Soleil to the brand new extension of the school and also an additional section of Brise soleil to one of the existing runs. New sections of Brise Soleil were manufactured and installed exactly as previous phase, horizontal box section rails were fixed to the face of the rendered wall via small support stubs to the rear. 300mm elliptical blades were then secured to the front face of the box section into fixed angle brackets set at 0 degrees.

Vertical Solar Shading – Commercial / Industrial Unit, Dawlish

Vertical Solar Shading – Commercial / Industrial Unit, Dawlish

NLC installed this vertical Brise Soleil to a Commercial / Industrial Unit in Dawlish. The bracketry was installed directly into the nosecone of the curtain walling. The panels then sat vertically in front of the windows to provide shading to the top 2.5 meters of window. Making a big difference to how much light / heat gets into the building, especially during the warmer summer months.

Horizontal Brise Soleil – Residential Property, Kent

Horizontal Brise Soleil – Residential Property, Kent

Nationwide Louvre installed the Brise Soleil shown in the images below to a residential property in Kent. The Brise Soleil provided a high level of shading performance for the upstairs bedroom / bathroom. This is down to the panels projection from the building and also the overhang at either end of the run. This frame-less design on the ends of the run reduces the amount of support bracketry on show and just a simple elliptical shaped end cap has been used to cover the end of each blade. All aluminium components were polyester powder coated to match the cladding.

Horizontal Solar Shading / Brise Soleil – White Hart Lane, London

Horizontal Solar Shading – White Hart Lane, London

One of Nationwide Louvre Company’s latest projects has been the design, manufacture and installation of 4 No. runs of Solar Shading / Brise Soleil that have been fitted to a new building for a school in London. The primary brackets on this project were installed prior to the rendering being completed which meant that only a small stub was left to secure the panels to, hiding the majority of the brackets / fixings.  There were five individual runs in total consisting of 3-5 panels in each.

Vertical Brise Soleil – Romsey Sports Facility

Vertical Brise Soleil – Romsey Sports Facility

NLC recently completed the installation of these runs of Vertical Brise Soleil to a brand new Sports Facility. The primary brackets were installed prior to the cladding so there is minimal bracketry on show giving a nice neat finish to the building.
